About the role#
The Preferred Communities (PC) program supports refugee and ORR-eligible populations who have challenging needs, including those with serious medical conditions, women at risk, and elderly refugees. As a PC Casework Intern, you will support the casework team in providing essential services and fostering client self-sufficiency. This internship requires a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for at least three months.
What you'll do#
- Manage documentation, including scanning and filing records.
- Complete data entry and take notes during meetings.
- Assist clients in developing problem-solving skills to support their independence.
- Accompany caseworkers to appointments and assist with service delivery.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development programs.
- Collaborate with casework staff and external community partners.
What you'll need#
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Creativity and the initiative to follow through on projects.
- A strong desire to help people and an interest in working in a multi-cultural setting.
- Strong technical skills.
- Relevant academic background in fields such as Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, Psychology, or Human Resources.

- Location: Tallahassee, Florida.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Term: Fall 2026, beginning the week of September 8, 2026.
- Schedule: Primarily weekdays between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with occasional weekend activities.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
