The Preferred Communities (PC) program supports refugee and ORR-eligible populations with complex needs, including those with serious medical conditions, elderly refugees, and women at risk. This internship offers the opportunity to work directly with the casework team to support refugee resettlement and self-sufficiency efforts in the Tallahassee area. This is an unpaid, hybrid position requiring a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for at least three months.
What you'll do#
- Manage documentation, including scanning and filing sensitive records.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate case notes.
- Assist clients in developing problem-solving skills to foster independence and self-sufficiency.
- Accompany caseworkers to client appointments and support the delivery of essential services.
- Collaborate with internal staff and external community partners.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development programs.
What you'll need#
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate creativity and initiative on assigned projects.
- A strong desire to help others and an interest in working within a multicultural environment.
- Proficiency with technical tools and software.
- Preferred academic backgrounds include Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, Psychology, or Human Resources.

- Location: Tallahassee, Florida.
- Term: Fall 2026 (beginning the week of September 8, 2026).
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Schedule: Primarily weekdays between 9 AM and 5 PM, with occasional weekend activities.
- Note: This is an unpaid internship.
