About the role#
The Intensive Case Management (ICM) program provides support to refugees and asylees who have special needs, such as significant medical conditions, that require more attention than standard resettlement services. This internship focuses on helping clients increase their self-reliance and community integration through a client-centered model of service delivery.
What you'll do#
- Map community assets and help make referrals to community partners.
- Assist in scheduling medical appointments for clients.
- Educate clients on U.S. healthcare and social service systems.
- Assist clients in applying for social service assistance programs.
- Input client information into the IRC database.
- Communicate client concerns with ICM staff and coordinate service plans with your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- A genuine interest in international and refugee issues.
- Creativity and the initiative to follow through on projects.
- Computer literacy, preferably with PC systems.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and requires on-site work.
- This is an unpaid internship.
- You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
- We require a commitment of at least 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months.
- All interns must pass a background check and submit hours on the volunteer portal.
- The internship begins the week of September 8, 2026.
