The Employment Intern works with the Employment team to assist refugee clients in finding jobs and preparing for the workforce. This role provides direct support to clients while managing essential clerical tasks, including data entry and case file organization. This is an unpaid, on-site position based in Tallahassee, Florida.
What you'll do#
- Research potential employers and community partners for the Employment Program.
- Provide one-on-one job readiness counseling and training to refugee clients.
- Assist clients with completing online and paper job applications.
- Accompany clients to job interviews and orientations.
- Enter case notes and maintain client case files in relevant databases.
- Provide general administrative support for the Economic Empowerment team.
What you'll need#
- Strong interest in working with an international population.
- Proven ability to work with consideration and respect for cross-cultural differences.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Proficiency with employment-related activities and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism.
- Must be at least 18 years old and pass a background check.
- Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle.
- Majors in Human Resources, Psychology, International Relations, Sociology, or Political Science are relevant to this role.
Location & details#
- Location: Tallahassee, FL.
- Term: Fall 2026 (beginning the week of September 8, 2026).
- Commitment: Minimum of 15 hours per week for at least 3 consecutive months.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Unpaid.
