    About the role#

    This is a paid, full-time internship for undergraduate students interested in translation and document services. You will work on-site at our headquarters in Washington, D.C., for a fixed two-month term from January 16, 2027, to March 15, 2027. This program offers the chance to learn about development work and corporate management through on-the-job experience.

    What you'll do#

    • Use specialized computer-assisted translation tools to create translation memory databases.
    • Align official documents using alignment software.
    • Research and compile terminology for official Bank documents.
    • Help develop in-house glossaries and style manuals.
    • Conduct quality control reviews to ensure document accuracy and completeness.
    • Produce draft translations for review and feedback by in-house staff.
    • Assist with the implementation of language technology and analytics tools.

    What you'll need#

    • Active enrollment as an undergraduate student in Literature, Language Studies, Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Translation, or a related field.
    • Completion of at least two years of university studies.
    • Graduation date must be after the internship period.
    • Fluency in English and native or working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
    • Citizenship of an IDB member country.
    • Experience with computer-assisted translation tools and terminology management software is preferred.
    • Ability to commit to 40 hours per week for the duration of the program.
    • You must be a first-time participant in an IDB Group internship program and have no family members currently working at the Bank.
