About the role#
The Inter-American Development Bank is seeking an undergraduate student for a paid internship in translation and document service support. This program provides an opportunity to learn about development work and corporate management while gaining professional experience. You will work on-site at our headquarters in Washington, D.C. for a two-month term during the winter of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Use specialized computer-assisted translation tools to build and maintain translation memory databases.
- Produce draft translations of official documents from the Bank's official languages into your mother tongue for review.
- Conduct research to compile terminology and contribute to the development of glossaries and style manuals.
- Perform quality control reviews to ensure the accuracy and completeness of translated documents.
- Assist with the implementation of language technology and analytics tools.
- Align official documents using alignment software.
What you'll need#
- You must be an active undergraduate student in Literature, Language Studies, Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Translation, or a related discipline.
- Your expected graduation date must be after the internship period, and you must have completed your second year of studies.
- You must be a citizen of an IDB member country.
- You must be a first-time participant in an IDB or IDB Invest internship program.
- Fluency in English is required, along with working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
- Experience with computer-assisted translation tools and terminology management software is preferred.
