About the role#
As a GPU & AI Accelerator Hardware Design Undergraduate Intern, you will work with engineers to develop next-generation GPU and AI platforms. This role offers hands-on experience with PCB design, power delivery, circuit simulation, and hardware validation. You will apply academic concepts to real-world engineering challenges while collaborating with cross-functional teams including board, thermal-mechanical, and firmware experts.
What you'll do#
- Support GPU and AI accelerator board and power design from concept through validation.
- Assist with PCB schematic design, layout, component selection, and Bill of Materials development.
- Troubleshoot high-speed board, power, digital, and analog design challenges.
- Use simulation tools like Cadence, Sigrity, SIMetrix, Mathcad, MATLAB, or PowerDC.
- Participate in board bring-up, characterization, and hardware debug using oscilloscopes and thermal measurement equipment.
- Support soldering and rework activities.
- Evaluate power requirements and delivery solutions.
- Develop test methods and use Python or other scripting languages to automate data collection.
- Gain exposure to microcontroller and FPGA firmware design.
- Research technologies to improve future hardware designs and engineering processes.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 months of experience with hardware design principles, PCB layout techniques, board bring-up, and electrical measurements.
- Proficiency with design software such as Cadence or Altium.
- Understanding of AI acceleration hardware and computing architectures.
- Preferred: Experience with discrete graphics cards, PC x86 architecture, or building your own computer hardware.
- Preferred: Programming skills in Python.
