About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week program during the summer of 2027. Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, this paid, full-time internship provides hands-on experience working alongside engineers and consultants on mechanical systems for the vertical building industry. You will contribute to projects across various sectors, including education, healthcare, and commercial facilities, while receiving mentorship and participating in a structured program.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design, analysis, and implementation oversight of mechanical systems.
- Research commercially available equipment for project applications.
- Maintain project documentation, including design notebooks and permanent record files.
- Coordinate design schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, and equipment partners.
- Document design decisions, client instructions, and meeting outcomes.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals within established budgets.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Skills in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both oral and written formats.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
