About the role#
IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based in our Freeport, Maine office. You will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants to support the analysis, design, and implementation of electrical systems in buildings. This 10 to 12 week program provides hands-on project work and mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design of electrical system projects according to code and company standards.
- Research commercially available equipment resources.
- Manage client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
- Coordinate design and schedules with architectural, structural, mechanical, and technology disciplines.
- Document design decisions, meeting notes, and client instructions.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
- A strong interest in design consulting.
- Previous exposure to CAD or BIM software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Clear oral and written communication skills.
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry is preferred.
