About the role#
The Mechanical Engineer Intern provides hands-on support to the engineering team in a manufacturing environment. You will gain practical experience with product design, testing, documentation, and manufacturing processes. This role involves working closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to support ongoing projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with product design, development, and improvement projects.
- Create and update engineering drawings, models, and documentation using CAD software.
- Support engineering change requests by updating bills of material, drawings, and related records.
- Help with prototype builds, product testing, and validation activities.
- Collect and analyze engineering test data, then prepare summaries of your findings.
- Support research and development through data gathering and documentation.
- Create and maintain work instructions, test procedures, and technical documentation.
- Participate in design reviews and problem-solving activities.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to support production needs.
- Assist with First Article Inspection and component qualification tasks.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and support document control processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and work well in a team environment.
