About the role#
As a Retail Pharmacy Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while completing your pharmacy degree. You will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to assist with prescription processing, inventory management, and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service.
- Fill and process prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Prepare prescriptions and affix labels to containers.
- Report any medication errors.
- Assist with inventory control and monthly inventory tasks.
- Follow security and regulatory procedures.
- Help train pharmacy employees.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
- Protect the confidentiality of customer medical information and pricing data.
- Work with your team to follow store policies.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Assist in other areas of the store or take on special projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of related work experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately.
- Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems.
- Ability to compose correspondence and follow technical manuals.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, reach, and bend during your shift.
- Ability to count, pour, package, and label medications.
