About the role#
The Retail Human Resources Internship at Hy-Vee provides hands-on experience within a retail environment. Over the course of this 10-week summer program, you will work alongside an experienced management team to gain practical skills in recruiting, employee relations, scheduling, and store operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete the Retail Human Resources Activity Book.
- Support the hiring process, including interviewing and placing candidates.
- Assist with employee performance reviews, relations, benefits, and wage-related matters.
- Coordinate employee transfers and conduct new employee orientations and training.
- Manage scheduling, including time-off requests and coverage for call-ins.
- Provide customer service by greeting shoppers, assisting with product inquiries, and handling complaints.
- Attend weekly staff and assistant manager meetings.
- Handle confidential employee records and sensitive information with discretion.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in building relationships and interacting professionally with others.
- Logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and email applications.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, part-time internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is on-site at various locations in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota, Illinois, and Nebraska.
- This position does not offer sponsorship.
