About the role#
The Retail Store Leadership Intern program offers hands-on experience in retail operations. You will train with an assigned mentor at a designated store to learn the daily functions of the business. This role covers key areas including perishables, store operations, and human resources. You will gain practical knowledge in merchandising, cash accountability, and scheduling while working to meet sales goals.
What you'll do#
- Provide prompt, friendly customer service and foster a team-oriented environment.
- Assist management with pricing, product blends, and the setup of promotional displays.
- Ensure product quality and inventory levels meet customer demands.
- Use store hardware and software technology to manage daily tasks.
- Help forecast and review store labor schedules.
- Replenish shelves and recommend merchandise additions or deletions.
- Operate cash registers and assist in various store departments.
- Handle confidential information, such as sales and profit reports, with discretion.
- Follow all company policies and store guidelines.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent, plus a degree in an applicable field.
- Ability to solve practical problems and follow technical manuals.
- Proficiency in arithmetic calculations, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Ability to conduct interviews to obtain information and provide clear direction to others.
- Capacity to work effectively in a retail environment.
