About the role#
Human Computer Lab is building character robots designed for everyday environments. We are looking for an Industrial Designer to shape the exterior form and emotional presence of LeLamp. You will work with the CEO and founding team to define the visual language of this product from early sketches through to production. This role focuses on creating objects that feel intuitive and human-centered.
What you'll do#
- Lead the exterior design of LeLamp across product generations to ensure design consistency.
- Develop the visual language, form, materials, and emotional presence of the robot.
- Translate design concepts into production-ready 3D models in collaboration with mechanical engineers.
- Define and document CMF specifications including colors, materials, and finishes.
- Review prototypes and cosmetic samples to ensure they match the original design intent.
- Manage Class-A surfacing for injection molded parts while maintaining design quality and DFM requirements.
- Contribute to the visual presentation of the product, including packaging and art direction.
What you'll need#
- 3+ years of experience in industrial or product design, specifically within consumer hardware or robotics.
- A portfolio demonstrating sensitivity to proportion, detail, and emotional design.
- Experience taking products from initial concept through to production.
- Proficiency in Rhino, Alias, Fusion, or similar design software.
- Practical experience with Class-A surfacing and injection molding vendors.
- Knowledge of DFM constraints such as draft angles, parting lines, and textures.
- A sharp eye for cosmetic quality and the ability to articulate design standards.
