About the role#
HP IQ is building an AI platform to power a new generation of agentic devices. This platform manages the lifecycle of AI models, from initial creation and fine-tuning to optimized inference and orchestration. As an intern, you will work on one or more of these core pillars. You will partner with engineers to ship features that impact future devices and gain insight into how AI systems scale.
What you'll do#
- Profile, benchmark, and accelerate model execution on resource-constrained devices.
- Build or extend systems that coordinate multiple models and agents using tools like LangGraph or LangChain.
- Adapt pre-trained language models for specific use cases through experimentation and iterative fine-tuning.
- Collaborate with system software, design, and product teams to integrate your work into the broader platform.
- Contribute to open-source projects or internal libraries focused on inference, orchestration, or model training.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree program.
- Prior coursework or project experience in machine learning, systems engineering, or software development.
- Ability to articulate technical decisions and project goals clearly to peers and mentors.
- Familiarity with model inference, optimization, orchestration frameworks, or fine-tuning.
- A problem-solving approach that involves debugging issues and evaluating technical tradeoffs.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $45.00 to $51.00 per hour.
