About the role#
HKS is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside professional engineers and drafters on active projects. This is a full-time, on-site position.
What you'll do#
You will support the structural team with building components and systems. Your daily tasks include:
- Analyzing and designing foundations, columns, beams, and floor framing systems.
- Designing lateral force resisting systems.
- Using Revit to coordinate with architecture and other disciplines.
- Producing construction documents.
- Handling construction administration tasks like reviewing RFIs and submittals.
- Visiting construction sites.
What you'll need#
- You are a current college student pursuing a professional degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
- You are on the path to Engineer-in-Training certification.
- It is preferred that you have a working knowledge of Revit or other BIM tools.
- This role is for entry-level students with little to no previous experience.

- This internship is located in Dallas, Texas, Chicago, Illinois, or Houston, Texas.
- This is a paid, full-time position.
