About the role#
Hitachi Rail is seeking an Industrial Engineering intern to support manufacturing operations at our Batesburg-Leesville facility. This role involves balancing administrative tasks with strategic projects to improve production efficiency and product quality. You will work directly with our team to resolve production issues and support product development.
What you'll do#
- Resolve issues related to product safety and manufacturing production processes.
- Serve as a technical advisor to suppliers.
- Participate in product development projects as a manufacturing representative.
- Research, plan, and implement new or improved manufacturing processes.
- Refine products and processes to reduce costs.
- Create written instructions and provide clear oral communication to colleagues.
- Manage, organize, and prioritize daily tasks to support team success.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior in a 4-year university.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Preference is given to Electrical Engineering students.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with creating or working with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Routings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

- Location: Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May through August).
- Work Modality: On-site, 40 hours per week.
- Status: Paid, full-time internship.
