About the role#
The Construction Co-Op program introduces students to office and field operations within the commercial construction industry. You will work alongside corporate managers, project managers, and field superintendents to gain hands-on experience in how project concepts become physical structures. This position is based in Detroit, Michigan, for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Learn and understand project design drawings and specifications.
- Capture and document project site photographs to track progress and existing conditions.
- Assist the Superintendent and Project Manager in preparing and maintaining Request for Information (RFI) logs.
- Prepare daily reports summarizing project activities.
- Attend safety meetings, walkthroughs, and weekly toolbox talks.
- Collaborate on meeting minutes for subcontractor and project meetings.
- Gain exposure to the submittal process and assist in maintaining submittal logs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for Civil Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Business Administration.
- A strong desire to pursue a career in construction management.
- Strong competency in business writing.
- Exceptional personal work habits and a proactive, curious approach to learning.
- Proficiency in, or an eagerness to learn, construction software applications.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
