About the role#
Highland Animal Hospital offers a Veterinary Technician Student Externship and Preceptorship Program for students currently enrolled in an accredited technician school. This program provides practical experience to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work directly with our veterinarians, technicians, and support staff in a clinical environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Administer medications and vaccinations.
- Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures.
- Conduct laboratory tests including bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Take radiographs.
- Provide care for hospitalized animals.
- Educate pet owners on preventive care.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Veterinary Technician program.
- A strong interest in animal care and a desire to learn.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of animal handling and medical terminology.
