About the role#
As a Junior Estimator intern, you will join the estimating team to prepare and complete bid submittals for electrical construction projects. You will work alongside estimators, clients, and suppliers to support pre-construction activities.
What you'll do#
- Participate in pre-construction activities and help determine project bidding strategies.
- Review proposal specifications and drawings to define the scope of work.
- Prepare detailed estimates by calculating takeoffs.
- Maintain backup files for estimate figures, including current pricing from suppliers.
- Generate conceptual scopes of work, pricing, and labor schedules based on engineering narratives.
- Review design options and suggest solutions based on cost, quality, and material availability.
- Assist in the preparation and presentation of technical and design/build proposals.
- Conduct studies on construction methods and cost-effectiveness.
- Handle additional tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- A degree in Construction Management or Electrical Engineering, or relevant field experience with management aspirations.
- Interest in power systems design, high voltage cabling, and lighting systems.
- Coursework or previous internship experience related to Electrical or Power Systems.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Clear oral and written communication abilities.
- A focus on problem-solving and a strong work ethic.
- Motivation to complete tasks on time and within budget.
- A commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
