About the role#
Helix Electric is hiring a BIM Detailer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Las Vegas, Nevada. You will work within the VDC department to support electrical design and coordination for power and building systems.
What you'll do#
- Create BIM models of electrical systems under the direction of a VDC Manager.
- Prepare model content for VDC coordination meetings while following electrical codes and company standards.
- Attend coordination meetings to collaborate with other disciplines.
- Generate shop drawings for field use.
- Interpret single line diagrams and electrical drawings.
- Work with superintendents and field personnel to learn installation methods.
- Visit project sites as needed, with the possibility of being stationed at a site.
- Adhere to the BIM Execution Plan and project scope.
- Communicate project status clearly and consistently.
What you'll need#
- 3-5 years of electrical BIM experience in power or building systems.
- A portfolio showing 1-3 previously coordinated projects.
- Proficiency in Autodesk software, including Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Point Layout, and BIM 360.
- Ability to pass a Revit test.
- Strong organizational and verbal communication skills.
- A focus on problem solving, accountability, and meeting project deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with remote teams and supervisors.
