About the role#
HDR is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern or Co-Op to join our Transportation Business Group. This role focuses on the stormwater and hydraulics aspects of civil engineering projects. You will work on infrastructure including highways, railroads, transit systems, airports, bridges, and drainage systems. This is a paid, full-time position that offers the chance to gain practical experience under the supervision of a professional engineer or project manager.
What you'll do#
- Work as a designer on stormwater and hydraulics components for various transportation projects.
- Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to project assignments.
- Connect with company leaders and recent graduates through mentoring and young professional programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project delivery.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate Civil Engineering program.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills with high attention to detail.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of software packages relevant to your field of study.
- A commitment to participating in our employee-owned culture.
- Preference is given to local candidates and those who have completed 1-3 years of their degree with at least a 3.0 GPA.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in either Raleigh, North Carolina, or Charlotte, North Carolina.
- The role follows a rolling term schedule.
