About the role#
HDR is seeking a Transportation Engineering Intern or Co-Op to join the Highway and Road department in Raleigh, North Carolina. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience on urban and rural roadway projects while working alongside company leaders and recent graduates through mentoring programs. You will be an active participant in our employee-owned culture.
What you'll do#
- Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to project tasks.
- Assist with alignment and profile, geometrics, and drainage under the supervision of a Project Manager.
- Develop plans and construction estimates or quantities.
- Participate in mentoring and young professional programs.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the Transportation Business Group.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
- Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- A commitment to participating in our employee-owned culture.
- Preference is given to local candidates and those who have completed at least two years of a Civil Engineering degree with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
- Familiarity with industry software such as Bentley MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD is preferred.
- Progress toward an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate is preferred.

- This position is located in Raleigh, North Carolina.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
