About the role#
HDR is hiring a Transportation Engineering Intern or Co-Op to join our Highway and Road department. You will work in our Charlotte office to support our Carolinas Transportation Business Group. This role offers the chance to gain real-world experience while working under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager.
What you'll do#
- Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to project tasks.
- Perform assignments as directed by senior staff.
- Connect with company leaders and recent graduates through our mentoring and young professionals programs.
- Handle other duties as needed to support the team.
What you'll need#
- You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program, preferably Civil Engineering.
- We prefer candidates who have completed at least 2 years of their degree and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills are required.
- You should have basic Microsoft Office skills and experience with software packages relevant to the industry.
- We value attention to detail and a commitment to participating in our employee-owned culture.
- Preference is given to local candidates.

- This position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
