About the role#
As a Structural Engineering Intern in our Arlington office, you will work within our Building Engineering group. You will gain hands-on experience on local and global projects while learning how structural engineering supports complex, interdisciplinary design. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to perform tasks and apply standard engineering procedures.
What you'll do#
- Support project teams with analysis, modeling, and design documentation.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals.
- Connect with peers and leaders through mentoring and professional development programs.
- Learn how structural engineering contributes to the success of interdisciplinary projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate Civil or Mechanical Engineering program.
- Completion of, or current enrollment in, coursework covering structural analysis and the design of concrete, steel, masonry, and wood structures.
- Strong problem-solving, communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of software related to the industry.
- A commitment to participating in our employee-owned culture.
- Preferred: At least 2 years completed toward your degree with a 3.0+ GPA.
- Preferred: Familiarity with software such as ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, RISA, or Revit Structure.
- Preferred: A strong interest in architectural design and high-performance buildings.
