About the role#
HDR is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This paid, full-time position is based in our downtown Denver office. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed structural engineer to gain practical experience in the field. We aim to help you connect your academic coursework to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Participate in structural engineering design and analysis tasks.
- Create structural models and drawings using Revit BIM software.
- Review fabrication shop drawings from contractors to ensure they match design specifications.
- Visit active construction sites to observe how structures are built and inspected.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the engineering team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program, with at least 3 years completed toward a bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum 3.25 overall grade point average.
- Completed coursework in structural engineering, statics, structural analysis, or mechanics of materials.
- Familiarity with Revit and structural analysis software like Enercalc, Tedds, or Risa.
- Previous experience in an engineering or construction environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
