About the role#
HDR is seeking an engineering student for a four-month co-op placement in our Toronto office. You will join our Building Engineering team to work on various projects related to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for building structures. This role provides direct exposure to the building engineering industry while you work on multiple projects at different stages of design and construction. You will receive mentorship from our CFD team and have opportunities to learn from subject matter experts across the company.
What you'll do#
- Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures under the supervision of a Project Manager.
- Assist in setting up numerical models for CFD projects.
- Create CAD models and conduct design calculations.
- Document CFD assumptions, methodology, and report final results.
- Connect with company leaders and recent graduates through mentoring and young professionals programs.
- Participate in an employee-owned culture.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of CFD engineering principles.
- Experience with CAD software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Familiarity with software packages like ANSYS Fluent, CFX, COMSOL Multiphysics, or Star CCM+.
- Preference for students who have completed at least two years of their degree with a 3.0+ GPA.
- Previous experience working with an engineering firm is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
