About the role#
This internship is part of the HARTING Summer 2027 program. You will work on-site at our Elgin, Illinois facility as part of our New Product Development Hub. This role focuses on bringing new connectivity products and solutions to life. You will work on hands-on projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain exposure to technical product development.
What you'll do#
- Operate with a startup mentality to improve speed to market.
- Focus on rapid prototyping, testing, and material research.
- Work with early adopter customers to validate market potential.
- Use CAD software to create or modify 3D models, assemblies, and drawings.
- Design connector components for 3D printing and testing.
- Research additive and new manufacturing technologies.
- Review technical specifications and drawings.
- Provide support for New Product Introductions.
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues to troubleshoot customer designs.
- Incorporate feedback from teammates into future design iterations.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, specifically Mechanical, Electrical, or Electro-mechanical.
- Experience with 3D CAD software, with a preference for Siemens NX.
- Experience with prototyping, fabrication, and virtual team projects.
- An entrepreneurial spirit.

- Status: Full-time and paid ($22-$25 per hour).
