About the role#
The Summer Associate program is an immersive, full-time experience designed to build a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry. You will be embedded within a team on a jobsite or in a department, gaining hands-on experience across project management, field management, project development, and business operations. This program runs for 10-12 weeks, beginning in mid-May or early June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Participate in the Passport Experience, a series of activities designed to help you establish connections and gain industry knowledge.
- Complete a Capstone Project where you will define professional objectives, monitor your progress, and present your findings to leadership.
- Support project management tasks including financial tracking, document control, and trade partner success.
- Assist with field management by monitoring site logistics, safety, and quality control.
- Engage in project development through budgeting, estimating, and purchasing.
- Attend training sessions led by company experts and participate in social events and jobsite tours.
- Monitor and respond to communications to address critical project issues.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or construction management.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to take initiative and solve problems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to represent the company professionally.
- A commitment to accountability, punctuality, and meeting role expectations.
- Visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work on active sites.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs or ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments, including both office settings and active construction sites.
- Ability to work extended hours as needed during critical project phases.
Location & details#
- Location: Lynchburg, Virginia.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
- Compensation is $23 - $29 per hour, depending on location, education, and experience.
- Pre-employment and random drug screenings are required.
