About the role#
This internship supports our efforts to become a Wildlife Habitat Council Partner. You will spend your time on-site in Clayton, North Carolina, helping us document and manage the local ecosystem. This is a paid, part-time position scheduled for 20 hours per week during the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Catalogue diurnal and nocturnal species using audio, aural, and visual survey techniques.
- Perform specific field tasks such as bird surveys, spotlight surveys for mammals, amphibian aural surveys, and vegetation transects.
- Identify invasive species and begin control measures.
- Select representative observation and testing areas while following established research protocols.
- Prepare final reports that meet the standards of both the company and the Wildlife Habitat Council.
- Complete the Wildlife Habitat Council application.
- Deliver a final presentation summarizing your findings.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a 4-year Bachelor's degree in Biology with an emphasis in zoology, wildlife management, or ecological sciences.
- You must be a rising Junior or Senior.
- Familiarity with standard field survey techniques.
- The ability to work outdoors in hot weather.
