About the role#
This internship is a 10-week, paid program within the Grainger Technology Group. You will work alongside UX designers to support both customer-facing experiences and internal tools. You will be treated as a full member of the team, contributing to real projects that impact our business and customers. Throughout the summer, you will gain hands-on experience with modern design workflows and present your work to technology leaders.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with UX designers on design deliverables for various platforms.
- Engage with users, stakeholders, product managers, researchers, and engineers to gather requirements and define user needs.
- Convert insights into wireframes, prototypes, design concepts, and user flows.
- Explain your design rationale during critiques, presentations, and stakeholder meetings.
- Showcase your project impact and key learnings to leadership at the end of the program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Human-Centered Design, Design Methods, Human-Computer Interaction, Visual Design, UX Design, Product Design, Interaction Design, or a related field.
- Familiarity with design, usability, accessibility, and user-centered design best practices.
- Proficiency with wireframing and prototyping tools, with a preference for Figma.
- Strong communication skills across written, verbal, and visual formats.
- Curiosity regarding modern product development, design systems, and AI-enabled design workflows.
