About the role#
GovSignals is looking for engineering interns to expand the public data sources that power our platform. This role combines software development, web research, and hands-on ownership of data quality. You will join us for a 6-week program to help build the systems that track federal and state government contracts.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain data scrapers and ingestion pipelines for government data sources.
- Use internal tooling and AI agents to research sources and develop extraction approaches.
- Validate data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
- Monitor existing sources, investigate failures, and improve scraper resilience.
- Document source behavior, extraction logic, and data-quality checks.
- Support other technical and operational work across the company.
What you'll need#
- Current third- or fourth-year undergraduate student or a recent graduate.
- Experience with TypeScript and Python.
- Familiarity with web scraping or browser automation.
- Comfort working with HTML, APIs, structured and unstructured data, and formats such as JSON and CSV.
- Strong attention to detail and an ownership mindset for data quality.
- Familiarity with Git, debugging, and writing clear technical documentation.
- Interest in using AI agents effectively and curiosity about public-sector data.
