    About the role#

    Advocacy Fellows ground the #DegreesNYC mission in youth voice. You will help shape the direction of our advocacy work by identifying priorities that matter to young people. This role involves sharing your lived experiences and amplifying the voices of your peers through public testimony, storytelling, and events. You will work under the Youth Council Co-Coordinator for Advocacy to push for change through direct engagement with decision-makers.

    What you'll do#

    • Lead and support advocacy campaigns that align with #DegreesNYC policy priorities.
    • Collaborate on workshops, events, and campaigns.
    • Participate in the Youth Council to advocate for a more equitable education system.
    • Use storytelling tools like op-eds, panel discussions, and testimonies.
    • Engage directly with institutional leaders and elected officials.
    • Build partnerships with other youth-led organizations and identify new opportunities for collaboration.
    • Work alongside Data Fellows to support data-driven goals.
    • Coordinate with the Data Co-Op and Learning Network regarding public data systems in New York City and State.

    What you'll need#

    • Lived experience as a young person in the NYC education system.
    • Interest in fields such as Political Science, Sociology, Communications, or History.

    Location & details#

    • This position is based in New York, NY.
    • The term runs from December 2025 through June 2026.
    • This is a part-time role requiring up to 10 hours per week.
    • This is a paid position at a rate of $17.00 per hour.
