About the role#
Ducks Unlimited is hiring a Government Affairs intern for the Winter 2027 session in Washington, DC. This full-time, paid position supports our public policy priorities by assisting with advocacy events, tracking legislation, and representing the organization at coalition meetings. You will work directly with our governmental affairs team to advance habitat conservation efforts.
What you'll do#
- Manage logistics for DC events, including advocacy fly-ins and Capitol Hill banquets.
- Schedule Congressional and Administration meetings.
- Conduct policy research and track lobbying information.
- Assist with daily office administration and organization.
- Draft internal and external communications like press releases.
- Provide administrative support for the volunteer Public Policy Committee.
- Prepare materials for meetings and handle follow-up tasks.
What you'll need#
- An active college transcript or a bachelor’s degree in political science, agriculture, natural resources, or a related field.
- Knowledge of or a strong interest in federal regulatory and congressional processes.
- Familiarity with conservation issues related to waterfowl, wildlife, water resources, or outdoor recreation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
- Strong critical thinking skills and a willingness to learn.
