About the role#
GlobalFoundries is seeking a Factory Automation Engineering Intern for Fab 8 in Malta, New York. This role focuses on developing and configuring factory dispatch rules, scheduling systems, and optimization models to support production output goals. You will work on infrastructure for work in progress (WIP) management and contribute to manufacturing efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Support the infrastructure for WIP management decision support applications.
- Develop, deploy, and configure factory dispatch rules and scheduling systems.
- Design and develop optimization, heuristic, and rule-based scheduling algorithms to improve factory performance.
- Utilize the Real-Time Dispatch application to optimize dispatch rules, manage WIP movement, and improve tool utilization.
- Perform all tasks in a safe and responsible manner while adhering to environmental and safety programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as at least a sophomore in a Bachelor’s program for Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum overall 3.0 GPA.
- Ability to work at least 20 hours per week during the internship.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
