Gerdau North America is seeking an Environmental Engineer co-op or intern for an 8-month term. This position provides hands-on experience working directly with the Environmental and Safety teams at our manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for managing specific environmental and safety projects, updating internal procedures, and supporting audit preparation.
What you'll do#
- Update and manage operational procedures.
- Revise spill response procedures and maintain spill response equipment.
- Update waste and recycling protocols.
- Assist with environmental and safety audits, including the preparation of presentation materials.
- Manage smaller-scale environmental and safety projects.
- Conduct safety orientations for personnel.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least two years of a degree from a recognized university in a Biosystems or Engineering discipline, with a specialization in Environmental Science.
- A record of high academic achievement, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 (a GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and learn new tasks quickly.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without the need for current or future sponsorship.
