About the role#
As a Software Developer Intern on the Predictions Data & Decision Science team, you will join a collaborative group of software engineers, data engineers, and operations research experts. You will help build intelligent solutions for workforce management products, focusing on forecasting, resource planning, and decision-making systems. You will participate in the full lifecycle of a project, from data exploration and algorithm design to building, testing, and deploying scalable software.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and test solutions for complex workforce management problems.
- Learn how components like forecasting and scheduling systems work together.
- Use data, mathematical modeling, and algorithms to evaluate potential solutions.
- Build software and prototypes that turn research into production-ready systems.
- Experiment with AI and machine learning techniques to improve workforce planning.
- Analyze experimental results to guide engineering and product decisions.
- Write maintainable code, create automated tests, and participate in code reviews.
- Collaborate with team members across software engineering, data engineering, and product teams.
- Communicate findings and technical trade-offs to various audiences.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfort with fundamental concepts in mathematics, statistics, or data analysis.
- Experience programming in languages such as Python, Java, C++, or C#.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and a curiosity about how systems function.
- Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills.
- Experience or exposure to algorithms, data structures, mathematical modeling, or machine learning.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, software development practices like Git, CI/CD, or Agile development.
- Experience with optimization libraries or scientific programming is a plus.

- Location: Toronto, Ontario.
- Term: Summer 2027 (8 to 16-month terms).
- Modality: Hybrid (1 to 2 days per week in the Toronto office).
- Employment: Full-time, paid internship.
