Join the Residential Power Electronics team as a Firmware Engineering Intern in Reno, NV. This hands-on role involves contributing to embedded firmware development for new products, supporting existing systems, and gaining experience testing physical hardware. You will apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges while working alongside experienced firmware engineers.
What you'll do#
- Support firmware development for embedded controllers using C and C++.
- Assist with creating and maintaining firmware modules and documentation.
- Contribute to test specification development for new systems.
- Conduct and evaluate firmware and hardware testing in the lab.
- Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Use simulation tools and Python scripting for automation and tooling tasks.
- Support design troubleshooting and complete a project that delivers tangible value to the team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Coursework or project experience in embedded programming with C or C++.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Comfort working in a hands-on lab environment.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Python, Git, CI/CD concepts, or prior project experience with physical embedded systems.

- Modality: Full-time, 5 days per week on-site.
