    About the role#

Gecko Robotics is seeking an AI/ML Engineering Intern to join our engineering team in New York for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, onsite role. You will work on a defined project that turns inspection data into decisions. This is an engineering internship focused on building the systems that analyze data, rather than just performing analysis.

    What you'll do#

    • Own a scoped machine learning project from problem framing through evaluation and integration.
    • Build Python data pipelines to clean, label, and structure NDT sensor data, documents, and operational records.
    • Train, evaluate, and iterate on models, designing evaluations that reflect real-world field use.
    • Integrate a model or LLM-based workflow into a service or tool.
    • Investigate failure modes on messy data and recommend technical fixes.
    • Use version control, code review, testing, and experiment tracking to ensure your work is reproducible.
    • Present your project, results, and recommended next steps at the end of the term.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
    • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
    • Strong Python programming experience, specifically writing well-structured and tested code beyond notebooks.
    • Coursework or project experience in machine learning, including training and evaluating models on real datasets.
    • A working understanding of linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
    • Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems.
    • Ability to independently close knowledge gaps and learn from feedback.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Location & details#

    • Location: New York, New York.
    • Modality: On-site, Monday through Friday.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Compensation: This is a paid internship.
