About the role#
The Courier Journal is hiring an Opinion Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This fellowship program takes place in Louisville, Kentucky, and offers one-on-one coaching and mentoring. You will work with the opinion editor to contribute to community conversations and productive discourse.
What you'll do#
- Select, edit, and digitally optimize opinion content across multiple platforms.
- Prepare guest columns and letters to the editor.
- Perform copyediting, fact-checking, and headline writing.
- Apply search engine optimization techniques to content.
- Manage social media tasks, including the creation of social videos.
- Work independently and alongside the opinion editor on newsroom and companywide projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university, preferably having completed at least two years of study.
- Prior experience through at least one internship is preferred.
- Studies in Communications, Journalism, or English.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible in your work.
- Excellent communication skills and a solid command of the English language.
