About the role#
FTAI Aviation is looking for a Continuous Improvement Intern to join our team in Montreal. You will apply Lean Six Sigma principles to our engine repair environment. This role focuses on reducing waste, improving workflows, and increasing safety across our shop floor.
What you'll do#
- Map current workflows for engine disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly to find bottlenecks.
- Collect and analyze operational data like cycle times, turnaround times, and scrap rates using Excel.
- Support the implementation and auditing of 6S practices in workshops and work cells.
- Help departments document and update standard work processes and visual instructions.
- Manage small improvement projects from the initial idea to implementation.
- Spot safety hazards in the work environment and suggest ergonomic or layout changes.
- Create reports and presentations that summarize project findings, cost savings, and impact on key performance indicators.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Industrial Engineering.
- Availability for an 8-month co-op term.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
- A basic understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles such as DMAIC, 6S, Value Stream Mapping, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A commitment to safety and quality.
- Intermediate English proficiency to communicate with global partners and produce documentation.
- Familiarity with CAD software like AutoCAD or data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
