About the role#
FTAI Aviation offers an internship for students to gain experience in the maintenance, repair, and exchange of commercial jet engines. You will work in our overhaul shop environment in Miami, where you will receive mentorship from engineering and business leaders. This role focuses on the intersection of technical engineering decisions and their economic influence on airline fleet management.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering teams to develop maintenance strategies and improve processes.
- Document and report on maintenance procedures and findings.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on engineering solutions.
- Analyze the performance of aerospace components to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Research new technologies and propose solutions for MRO optimization.
- Join cross-functional meetings to learn how engineering affects business operations.
- Help create a troubleshooting guide for engine test cells.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a bachelor's or master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or other engineering disciplines.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills in English.
- Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel and Word, and the ability to learn new software tools quickly.
- High attention to detail when working with complex information.
- Drive and initiative to manage multiple tasks.
Location & details#
- Location: Miami, Florida.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full-time.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Physical demands: Work occurs in a shop environment. You must be able to stand, walk, drive, and climb for extended periods. The role requires regular lifting of up to 50 lbs and the ability to manipulate up to 100 lbs with assistance. You should be comfortable working in a noisy environment and performing tasks that involve bending or stooping.
