About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site in Phoenix, Arizona, providing technical support for environmental projects and programs. This role is designed for current students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the mining industry.
What you'll do#
- Install, operate, and maintain environmental and emission monitoring instruments.
- Collect data and operate sampling equipment to track air, land, and water pollution levels.
- Conduct hazardous waste site inspections and recommend actions to management to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Manage the labeling and monitoring of hazardous materials and solid waste, including drums and reclamation sites.
- Stay current on site environmental policies and safety procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or higher degree program in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field at an accredited four-year university.
- Recent graduates who earned their degree within 12 months prior to the internship start date are also eligible.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and written or verbal communication.
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Capacity to understand and follow safety instructions and procedures in English.
- Ability to work in office, mine, or plant settings, which may involve exposure to varied temperatures, humidity, and mechanical equipment.
- Physical ability to stand, sit, climb stairs or ladders, and lift up to 30 pounds.
