About the role#
The Grady Lab at Fred Hutch is looking for a Bioinformatics Intern Trainee to assist with studies on the colorectal cancer progression sequence. This role focuses on multi-omic approaches and offers hands-on experience in translational cancer biology, bioinformatics, and epigenetics.
What you'll do#
- Perform bioinformatics analysis on research datasets.
- Identify and select appropriate bioinformatics tools to address project requirements.
- Conduct statistical analysis and create visualizations to summarize your findings.
- Document research methods and maintain clear records for data interpretation.
- Collaborate with faculty mentors and team members to develop research questions and analytical strategies.
- Provide support to staff statisticians, bioinformaticians, and computational biologists.
- Contribute figures and written sections for manuscripts, grant applications, and scientific presentations.
- Participate in regular lab meetings, journal clubs, and research discussions.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biology, genetics, computational biology, statistics, or a related field.
- Experience with data analysis using R, Python, or another relevant programming language.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a research team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A strong interest in the biological sciences.
- You must be currently enrolled in a Bioinformatics or Genomic program at an accredited university.
- You must provide a letter from your university validating your current enrollment.
