This is an 8-month full-time engineering co-op position within the Project Management Office at FortisBC. The role provides direct exposure to the design and operation of the company's gas system, working alongside engineers and managers across various departments.
What you'll do#
- Design natural gas facilities and pipelines, including equipment sizing, selection, and stress analysis.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support the completion of capital projects.
- Conduct engineering assessments to identify infrastructure deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare written reports and proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure projects.
- Research and develop design standards while ensuring compliance with company and industry codes.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Engineering program with a focus on Mechanical Engineering, preferably in your third or fourth year.
- Participation in a formal co-op program.
- Proficiency with CAD applications.
- Ability to interpret mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems.
- Strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with report and memo writing in a corporate environment.
- Effective communication skills for working with diverse groups of people.
- A valid driver’s license and current abstract.
