This 8-month full-time co-op position offers an opportunity to work within the gas engineering and operations groups at FortisBC. You will contribute to capital projects and gain insight into the design and operation of the provincial natural gas system.
What you'll do#
- Design natural gas facilities and pipelines, including equipment sizing, selection, and stress analysis.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to complete capital projects.
- Conduct engineering assessments to identify infrastructure opportunities and deficiencies.
- Author written reports and proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure.
- Research and develop design standards while recommending process improvements.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant company and industry codes and standards.
- Interpret mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a university Co-op program pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering).
- Third or fourth-year students are preferred.
- Experience or knowledge of CAD applications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with report and memo writing in a corporate environment.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- A valid driver’s license.
