About the role#
The Pre-Clinical Intern assists staff within a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician or clinic manager. This role focuses on supporting daily operations, ensuring physician efficiency, and contributing to patient care and satisfaction. Interns follow established clinical practice guidelines and work across both administrative and clinical functions.
What you'll do#
- Prepare exam rooms for procedures and assist with rooming patients.
- Perform medical scribing, including accurate transcription of patient encounters, histories, physical exams, and physician orders.
- Document patient visit notes, including chief complaints, medical history, vital signs, medications, and allergies.
- Manage administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, coordinating referrals, and verifying insurance benefits.
- Handle front desk duties, including checking patients in and out and managing patient schedules.
- Coordinate patient paperwork, including FMLA forms and school or work excuses.
- Collaborate with the team to manage patient flow and ensure efficient clinic operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Pre-Med student or a completed Bachelor’s degree with plans to apply to medical school.
- Strong interpersonal and human relations skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Proven problem-solving, critical thinking, and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask, remain flexible, and work cooperatively in a team environment.
