Nurse Technician (RN Student)- Oncology

About the role#

The Nurse Technician (RN Student) supports the Med Surg Oncology team by providing basic patient care and nonprofessional services. Working under the close supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will assist with the personal needs and comfort of patients while following established institutional guidelines and safety standards.

What you'll do#

• Assist with patient admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
• Measure, collect, and document patient data such as vital signs, weight, and oxygen saturation, reporting any changes or symptoms to the nursing staff.
• Support patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, elimination, and linen changes.
• Assist with patient mobility, transportation, and positioning.
• Help physicians with examinations, treatments, and special tests, including the collection and transport of specimens.
• Retrieve medications from the pneumatic tube system or pharmacy for delivery to nursing staff.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and nursing stations.
• Perform clinical procedures consistent with your level of nursing education under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Participate in quality improvement programs and adhere to all facility policies and procedures.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program as a student nurse in good standing.
• For RN students: Completion of the second clinical rotation (Med/Surg) and placement in the Junior or Senior year.
• For LPN students: Completion of the first semester or term.
• Completion of basic patient skills training within your nursing program.
• Valid BLS Certification.
• Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
