About the role#
The Nurse Technician in the Pediatric ER performs patient care activities and nonprofessional services to support the comfort and needs of patients. You will work under the close supervision of a Registered Nurse, following established guidelines to assist with daily care and treatment preparation. This role is designed for nursing students to gain clinical experience while supporting hospital operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with patient admission, discharge, and transfer processes.
- Measure, collect, and document patient data, such as vital signs and weight, reporting any changes in condition to the nursing staff.
- Help patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, and mobility.
- Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and special tests, including specimen collection and transport.
- Retrieve medications from the pharmacy or pneumatic tube system as directed.
- Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and nursing station areas.
- Utilize equipment safely and efficiently according to hospital standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Registered Nurse program as a Junior or Senior student.
- Completion of at least two clinical rotations, specifically including Med/Surg clinicals.
- Good standing within your nursing program with demonstrated basic patient care skills.
- Valid BLS Certification.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and strong communication skills.
