About the role#
As an Engineering Intern at Flexsteel Industries, you will assist in the development of new products, processes, and procedures. You will collect data, develop designs, analyze outputs, and determine corrective actions. This role focuses on promoting safety, quality, and efficiency while you gain hands-on experience on projects with real business impact.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement improvements for products and work processes.
- Assist with projects critical to long-term strategic success.
- Learn and apply Lean principles to generate improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement events.
- Analyze operational databases to reduce production times, lead times, and inventory costs.
- Determine methods to improve worker efficiency and reduce waste.
- Establish standard work procedures and systems to monitor KPIs.
- Partner with functional areas to maintain performance metrics.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in Solidworks modeling and design concepts.
- Familiarity with analytical tools like flow charts, pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, and run charts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work well within cross-functional teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivation with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
- Willingness to learn and grow in a hands-on environment.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
