About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Engineering Professional Co-Op position for Summer 2027. You will work within our Power Delivery and Construction and Design Services groups to gain hands-on experience in the utility industry. The role requires on-site attendance at one of our designated locations. You will participate in a professional development program that includes training, mentorship, and a personalized development plan.
What you'll do#
- Support engineers in developing and maintaining engineering programs, including revising procedures and completing analytics.
- Perform field walk downs and verify inputs to engineering programs.
- Conduct engineering studies, analysis, and design for transmission planning, protection, and operations.
- Develop system equipment models and protection specifications, and investigate transmission relay events.
- Assist in creating transmission line and substation design packages.
- Maintain substation maintenance strategies and investigate reliability issues.
- Collaborate with project managers on the transmission capital project portfolio.
- Write summary reports and deliver presentations to department members and leadership.
- Participate in all mandatory Co-Op program events and engage in self-assessments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a four-year accredited college or university in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.
- Sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate level standing is preferred.
- Successful completion of basic engineering coursework.
- Ability to work in both office and field environments while following safety procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-aided design applications.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to manage tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Must be able to work without sponsorship.
- Commitment to a minimum of two Co-Op rotations is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role. You must be willing to relocate to or reside near your assigned reporting location.
- Available locations: Akron, Ohio; Greensburg, Pennsylvania; Reading, Pennsylvania; Fairmont, West Virginia; and Morristown, New Jersey.
